Sliding Scale Zoning
Members of the Shenandoah County Farm Bureau presented the Supervisors with a proposal to implement sliding scale zoning. President John Zirkle (noted below) offered the plan as a way to reduce farmland loss and protect property rights.
Clarke, Fauquier and Montgomery Counties use a Sliding Scale system, but Zirkle noted the proposal for Shenandoah County is altered because of different average farm and parcel sizes.

The concept of Sliding Scale is to reduce density on larger parcels but still afford a reasonable number of divisions. Good presentation on an interesting concept.
